TALK: Addiction issues are often complicated by the fact that they frequently co-occur in conjunction with related mental health disorders such as Depression, PTSD and a variety of other mental health disorders. Thus, an integrated treatment program that treats both disorders concurrently have proven to be highly effective.

REVIEW AFTER THE TALK: Crossroads’ Turning Points has developed an impressive treatment program that is changing the lives of women (and their children) who struggle with both substance abuse and co-occurring mental, emotional, and social challenges. With support from a Colorado Health Foundation grant, CRTP is able to offer the only facility in southern Colorado that makes it possible for children to reside with their mothers while the mothers receive treatment for addictive and mental health issues.

The high success rate already achieved by the program can be understood when one hears about their comprehensive, holistic approach to treatment and education. Support helps the mothers to develop better family, relationship, and parenting skills - and be ready to more on to productive participation in society. —Richard Pinneau, President, Mental Health America of Pueblo.
