Cut by Council? —Advocacy Committee (formerly: Healthy Pueblo)
Slighted by sponsors? Health & Human Services Task Force
Foiled by funders? 2010 Commission
Thu, Jan 31, 2008, 2pm meeting at SRDA
We begin 2008 by considering innovations in funding for nonprofits, particularly: the push toward "Social Enterprising", as exemplified by:
‚Ä¢ Stephanie Garcia(The Arc)’s proposal to us last summer
that we develop collaborative, multi-agency nonprofit social enterprises.
• YWCA's new Union Street donation/consignment shop.
• Crossroad's new 'B' Street convenience store.
• Decades of consumer-based enterprises like Goodwill & PDI.
• Some still-stealthy Pueblo enterprises now under development.
Is there a place for such innovation to help fund *your* agency?
Should there be?
To begin the Advocacy Committee's 2008 meetings we invite you to find out what you can learn from others' experience - and to think "outside the box" for funding your own organization's future.
Also: News about efforts by Steve, Maria, and me to encourage City Council's reconsideration of the $100,000 cut from CSAC funding process.
