A $250,000 challenge grant from the Gates Family Foundation of Denver will avance the Bessemer Historical Society’s Steelworks Museum of Industry and Culture. Director Maria Sanchez-Kennedy expressed her gratitude for the foundations support of the Steelworks Museum, open only one year. The museum offers fascinating displays of artifacts and archived news about the Colorado Fuel and Iron Co. which played such a central role in Pueblo’ rise as an economic power during the 20th Century. Open for tours from 10am-4pm, Monday through Saturday. The Museum also has a spacious conference room, available for a small fee as a meeting space.
