* * * PCC Mini-Certificate Program for Counseling of Substance Abuse * * *

The six-credit hour program will consist of six classes that will be held once a month on weekends throughout the spring semester.
The program will allow for students to acquire the skills needed to provide professional counseling services to persons with addictions.
The students will gain an understanding of the social factors involved in substance abuse, the impact of addiction on the patients and their families, and principals and techniques of rehabilitation counseling.

Dates of the each of the courses in the series:

Jan. 18-19 - Client Records, 8:30a.m to 3:30p.m.
Feb. 14-16 - Principals of addiction treatment, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
March 14-15 - Infectious diseases
April 11-12 - Counseling Diverse Treatment Populations.
May 16-17 - Addictions Counseling Skills. June 6-7 - Professional Ethics.

Students who complete the coursework and 1,000 hours of internship experience at a state-approved treatment center can apply for state certification as a certified addiction counselor.

Individuals can register for the course through the PCC enrollment services center, located in Room 154 of the Mike Davis Academic Building.
