Full details:

Pueblo, CO, Master-quilter Delpha Melton has donated a large heirloom quality, hand-stitched quilt to Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care. The 87 inches wide by 94 inches long quilt will be raffled to raise funds for inpatient hospice care.

The quilt, entitled “Promise of Spring”, took more than eight months to stitch and is actually two quilts combined into one three dimensional pattern. Delpha made the quilt as an expression of gratitude for the work of the Sangre de Cristo Hospice staff when her husband was a patient. “I will never forget the truly caring hospice nurses and aides that helped us say goodbye to my husband Jim when he was so sick,” she explained. “I don’t know what we would have done without them.”

The first public exhibit of the quilt will be at the Stitcher’s Garden located on S. Union Avenue. It can be seen there from August 20 to September 7.

“It is rare to see a quilt of such color, design and craftsmanship,” said Stitcher’s Garden proprietor, Nancy Piazza. “We are honored to be able to display this masterpiece.”

Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, August 8. The Steel City Eagles #3367 will sponsor the sale of tickets and drawing which will be held Thursday, December 20th at the Steel City Eagles office.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will provide equipment and training for the staff of the Hospice House. For more information call 719-542-0032 or 253-0942.
