Honoring Your Grief Process. Loss Isn't Always About Death."Grieving is a matter of relearning how to be in the world." Thomas Attig Since you are visiting this site, chances are you are grieving a major loss in your life. When we think of grief, we think of the death of someone close—a parent, spouse, sibling, friend, or child. Or, you may even be experiencing the death of a beloved pet. There are also other kinds of loss that involve grieving, however, such as divorce or relationship problems, job loss, re-locating, chronic illness, a spiritual crises, and other life transitions. Common symptoms of grief may include anger, not being able to sleep or eat, impatience, feeling guilty, not being able to make decisions, feeling “fine” one minute and crying the next. If you find that you can’t really talk about your feelings with family and friends and that people around you “don’t seem to understand,” you may benefit from individual or group counseling to help you get through a myriad of feelings. If you’ve heard phrases, such as “you’ll get over it,” “life goes on,” “time heals all wounds,” and “there’s nothing you can do about it, so why dwell on it?” perhaps we can help you on your path toward healing. Your grief process is uniquely your own. |
Contact Us:Phone: 719.564.0500 Email: counselors @ centerforgrief.org Address: 2310-A South Prairie Avenue, Pueblo CO 81005 (Torres Plaza: Between Bockman and Tucci) We are open by appointment only. We Believe:"The cycle of grief has its own timetable. Until that cycle is honored and completed, we are moving along life's path with an anchor down." (Ann Linnea) We believe that grief is heavy work. We believe the human spirit is full of resilience, love, and courage. We believe that growth can result from our hardships We believe that people have the answers they seek We believe that people are ultimately interested in discovering the meaning of life from their own individual perspective, which is personal and intimate, and that loss which leads to our grief, propels us toward understanding our spiritual existence. We believe that people should be treated with unconditional positive regard, honesty, authenticity, equity, and humor. . . IN MEMORY. . .This feature is for the purpose of letting the community of Pueblo and the southern Colorado region have a voice and to honor, and perhaps heal from, your personal losses.
