The Advocacy Committee with the Task Force

In 2007 the task force “Health and Human Services” of the Pueblo 2010 Commission reorganized. Pre-dating the 2010 Commission, this Task Force had originally been known as "Pueblo Healthy Communities." At a world cafe meeting in January 2007 it became clear that there were two strong, divergent forks to the task force’s energies and interests.
It was therefore agreed in successive discussions that two standing committees would tackle tasks associated with these different focuses:

THE ADVOCACY COMMITTEE (represented on this page) will focus on the overall development of nonprofit AGENCIES and SERVICES that provide for the health and human services within Pueblo (see Charter below).

THE HEALTH ACTION COMMITTEE will focus on specific plans contributing to the physical and mental/emotional health of individuals within Pueblo County. For more information about the Health Action Committee, please see the separate Directory page:

Advocacy Committee’s Charter

The Advocacy Committee of the Health and Human Services Task Force of the Pueblo 2010 Commision will work to foster the physical health, mental health, and socio-economic well-being of citizens of the City and County of Pueblo and make relevant needs known to the Pueblo public at large and to its governing entities in order that they may make informed judgments in fulfilling their responsibilities.

The Advocacy Committee will accomplish this by gathering and maintaining up-to-date data reflecting the aforementioned needs, compiling presentations and seeking or creating forums for information distribution, staying abreast of developments which may be detrimental to the health and well-being of the communities of Pueblo citizens, and offering recourse recommendations; and being proactive in maintaining a human infrastructure consciousness in all government strategic planning processes.
